Behind the Scenes of Video Production

What is Video Production?

Video production is basically the entire process of creating a video. Whether it’s a 30sec spot, a business marketing video, a television commercial or a 30min episode of Trading Up, the process is essentially the same but may vary a little with the specifics of each project.

We start out with a (Pre-Production) meeting, in-person or over the phone/web to discuss the client’s strategy for the project, it’s scale, timeline, other.

We arrive on-location (Production) and shoot what’s needed for the client.

Once that’s done, we head back to the office where we begin (post-production) editing, color-correcting and adding any sounds or music needed. In the editing process, we then go through a couple of revision phases. An initial one to make sure the message is being properly relayed and a second tightening everything up. Once everything is approved, we’ll send out the Final.

  • Define Objectives and Audience:

Clearly outline your video’s purpose and target audience.

  • Develop a Concept and Plan:

Brainstorm ideas, create a storyboard, and plan your shoot.

  • Capture and Record:

Shoot footage, paying attention to visuals and audio quality.

  • Edit and Enhance:

Use editing software to arrange clips, add effects, and enhance audio.

  • Distribute and Evaluate:

Share your video on relevant platforms and measure its success against defined objectives.

How Long Does Video Production Take?

The timeline for completing videos and websites varies depending on factors such as complexity, scope, and client requirements. Typically, small-scale videos may take a few days to weeks, while larger projects can extend to several weeks or months. Websites, similarly, range from a few weeks for simpler sites to several months for more complex ones. Clear communication, defined objectives, and client feedback can significantly impact project timelines.
